This month we saw some great tweets about product design, new plastic materials hitting the market, manufacturing insights and the anatomy of the soccer ball. Let’s take a look at our pick of the top 5 industry tweets from June.

1. Wheelie bins

This is what a 3,150 tonne injection moulding machine looks like in action! Now you know how your wheelie bins are made.

2. Wiring

Behind-the-scenes look on the machine floor of the inner workings of an injection moulding machine. It’s amazing to see all the wires that go into making one of these massive machines work.

3. Soccer balls

This tweet shared a great overview of the humble soccer ball. From the progression of design over the years and the science behind how they’re made and tested, the article gives a good behind-the-scenes look at soccer balls, right on time for the World Cup.

4. Fix-Its

Calling itself FixIts, this new product is a compostable, mouldable plastic stick which can be softened and moulded for “quick, reusable & strong DIY fixes.” It’s just launched on Kickstarter for financial backing. An interesting idea, do you think it will be a hit?
