Mass manufacture can seem a scary business. Here we answer those questions you need to ask, but just don’t quite feel comfortable blurting out into you first meeting with your designer or supplier.

I have an idea about a product, but no manufacturing experience – Where do I start?

Its sounds counterintuitive but the best place to start is not with the product. Start with the business case. Who are your target users, and how will you market and distribute to them? What is the price point you need to manufacture your product at? What sales volumes will you need to achieve, and what do you hope to achieve under a best case scenario?

With this information as your map, you can navigate the world of manufacturing without fear. We can help you build anything, and offer free consultations to go over your concepts and show you our plans to bring them to market. However the key to a successful product is realize it’s just as much about how you make it as it is about what you make.

I’m not familiar with the technical terms – what do I need to know to get by with my designer/manufacturer?

Technical terms should only be used when precision is needed in a conversation. If the person you are speaking with is using jargon as a way to try and impress you, they may not be the person you want to be dealing with. We try not to overwhelm our clients with jargon that only helps us communicate on the shop floor. We’re more than happy to explain any term you might come across, and we’ll always take the extra time to explain what we mean if it’s becoming a little confusing. We also don’t mind talking to you about issues you’re having with other suppliers and manufacturer. We’re in your corner and we’ll advocate your business concerns, even if you aren’t our client.

I know that materials are important, but how much do I really need to know about them?

Material choice sounds scary, but usually isn’t. Often material selection depends on the use of the product, so if you can tell us where you plan to sell and use your product, we’ll choose the best product for you. Product materials aren’t often decided upon until later in the design stage so don’t stress about them straight away. But when times comes to decide, we can help you out.

I only need a few products made for a business pitch, can you make something that looks real and relatively cheap?

Absolutely we can. We understand that business pitches are key to starting your business and we want to help you. Prototyping your product is a great way to show potential investors and customers exactly what you can offer. We can prototype most types of products here in our workshop. Our prototypes can range from rough functional models, to fully finished pieces that will leave people guessing about if you’ve started mass production already.

I want to lower my production costs and take more control of my supply chain, what’s the best way to go about this?

We can help you examine your existing supply chain and offer you a range of options to bring it under tighter control. There is no one solution that fits every business, so we’re happy to take the time to talk to you and give you a free quote on the option that will best suit you.
This may involve simply making that key component yourself and cutting ties with a difficult supplier. It may involve modifying existing tooling to allow you the flexibility to adjust your product without changing the whole production line. It could even involve investing in a product redesign to cut the total number of parts and assembly time in an existing product so you can squeeze more profit from each unit at the same time you are waving long supply chains goodbye.

I’m changing my manufacturer to become completely Made in Australia– why should I choose you?

There are two reasons you should choose Dienamics: Control and Cost. We know that you sleep easy because you are in control your product supply and product costs. We know that you love to have both the part designers and the toolmakers easily accessible and available. We know that you value simple, prompt and accurate communication. We know that you want to be protected by Australian Consumer Law and Standards.

We work on the basis that our success depends on your success. So we take full advantage of over 50 years of experience in both Product Design and Manufacturing, of our placement close to your place of business, and our flexibility to ensure your dollar goes further.
