Drinktec 2013 was held during the month of September. This year, the Munich exhibition showcased injection moulding machines by Arburg and Engel.

Engel

Engel showed its e-cap 3440/380 injection-moulding machine that had a 72-cavity mould. The mould was created by z-moulds, a specialist Austrian toolmaker. The cell has the capacity to produce 1.8g still water closure caps.

Engel’s e-cap machine was designed to create caps more quickly and efficiently. The machine offers savings on energy and cooling water while also providing clamping forces of between 100 and 420 tons.

Engel, in conjunction with its partners, also presented a fully automated production cell based on a 380-ton machine with integrated quality control. The z-slides technology, which has been patented, reduces cycle times and boosts efficiency during production.

Arburg

Arbug, with partner Foboha, demonstrated its electric two-component Allrounder 720 A, which is capable of producing 12 juice container closures within a six-second cycle. Both the rotation of the cube and the linear mould movement use electric power.

The cube-mould technology means that high-quality moulded parts can be manufactured in very short cycle times, as each of the four sides of the cube mould can be used for production.
