Plastic is a durable material that is designed to stand the test of time. It can be recycled and used again and again.
Most plastics are used just once, and then end up in landfill or polluting the environment. Globally, eight million tonnes of plastic waste is dumped into our oceans.
Moving away from single-use plastics is an important step towards caring for the planet. There are plenty of businesses that are leading the way through recycling plastics into new products.
Here are ten of the most impressive products made from recycled plastics:
Sustainable Activewear
Can you imagine clothing made from recycled plastic water bottles? Team Timbuktu is a small Australian business that creates sustainable clothes for active lifestyles, including tech jackets, leggings and crop tops. They’re ethically made and use fabric that’s made from recycled water bottles.
Recycled Mats and Rugs
The team at Recycled Mats is turning recycled polypropylene into rugs and mats. They have a wide range of mats available, for camping, picnics, or your home. Their brightly coloured products are designed by Indigenous artists.
Natural and Recycled Shoes

Their manufacturing process uses 60% less energy and greenhouse gas emissions, meaning that their carbon footprint is lower too.

Recycled Cups
Single-use plastic cups are a significant part of plastic waste that ends up in landfills. To help reduce this issue, Globelet has created a range of reusable plastic cups and bottles for stadiums, large venues, and offices.
Their cups are made from post-industrial and pre-consumer plastic products that were defective and never made it into consumers hands. In the last 8 years, they’ve stopped over 21 million disposable plastics from going into landfill and entering oceans around Australia and New Zealand.
