How To Stay Productive and Sane While Working From Home!

During this time with the Covid-19 outbreak a lot of us are finding ourselves working from home. Although there are upsides to working from the comfort of your own home, we understand it can be difficult to remain productive and keep your mind from drifting off track. Here are some tips to ensure you stay productive and sane during your time at home.

1. Keep a routine or schedule.

Make sure you get up at the same time each day. Create a daily schedule or routine to keep you on
track and stick to it every day. This will help you complete your workload and make your day flow
better. Make sure to include breaks in this schedule.

2. Remember to get dressed out of your house clothes in the morning.

Getting up of a morning and changing into work clothes helps program your brain to be ready for work.

3. Separate your workspace from your sleeping space.

Having a designated workspace will help keep you in the “work” frame of mind. This, like changing clothes can help your brain differentiate between being at home and being at work. It helps to keep your home and work life separated which is also important for when you have finished for the day and you are transitioning back into home/ family time.

4. Remove Distractions

There can be a lot of distractions when working from home. Whether it be from kids, pets, housemates or something happening outside. If you can, try and move away from these distractions. If you can’t noise cancelling headphones help a lot with controlling the distractions and
helping you focus on the task at hand.

5. Stand up and walk outside now and then to get some fresh air and a change of scenery.

This is also a great tip for when you are in the office. Make sure you get up and have a quick walk around every now and then. It helps break the day up and keep your mind active rather than feeling like you’ve slogged it out for 8 hours straight. Some sun and fresh air can make all the difference in your mood and productivity.

6. Try and keep as active as possible. A healthy body is a healthy mind.

Anyone who routinely exercise at the start of the day will tell you it really helps to kick start their day and keep their mind sharp. It is so easy to fall out of routine when you are at home all day. Even a short stroll around the neighbourhood can be a good way to either start your day or wind down after you have finished.

7. Stay Connected

Keeping in contact with family and friends is particularly important during this time. Seeing someone’s face really can make a huge difference on a phone call. It can lift your mood and help keep you sane.

These are just a few tips and tricks we have found when working from home. Everyone’s situationcan vary, so try these out or try and come up with some of you own.
