Perfecting The Design: From Idea to Product
The journey from concept to final product was one of careful, methodical refinement, and attention to detail. As this product needed to suit the aesthetics and geometry of the ’70 series Land Cruiser, a thorough analysis of the car was essential. The car’s geometry was measured and 3D scanned to capture its form with extreme precision, providing the foundation for our CAD development. This crucial step ensured the cupholder fit perfectly, and by analysing and applying the Cruiser’s interior design language, the cupholder feels right at home in the car. With Touring Essentials, we created a product that not only solved an everyday problem but did so with a level of craftsmanship that exceeded customer expectations.
Growth Beyond the First Product
Following the success of the Passenger Cup Holder, Touring Essentials capitalised on this momentum and commissioned us to create a second cup holder called “The Captain.” This version sits on the driver’s side, and accommodates the two factory button holes, fitting naturally with the car’s function, look, and feel. Later, the Wingman armrest was developed, extending the line and further cementing their place as a renowned industry leader. We’re immensely proud of our ongoing work in the design, tooling, and manufacture of Touring Essentials’ range, and to be aligned with such a visionary Australian company.
